Etching of a young woman in dreamy sleep, 11 1/2" by 8 1/2" (14 3/4" by 11 3/4" simply framed), titled in the plate "Die Rosen", signed in the plate and again in the margin below in pencil by the German-born artist OTTO GOETZE (1868-1945). The artist's name is also sometimes spelled "Goetz" and some cite a death date of 1931. Goetze was born in Germany and was in San Francisco by 1930. Though evidently little known, judging at least from this sensitively rendered print, he was a master etcher. This is a beautiful and timeless image. Allow for reflections in the glass. You will want to re-mat with archival materials.
