Oil on canvas painting of orange Coreopsis flowers in a Asian ceramic vase on a table, 20" by 16" (25" by 21" in old original frame), signed at lower right and dated 1926 by Ohio artist MARTIN GEORGE DUMLER (1868-1958). The old original label of the Cincinnati Museum, giving the title, artist name and artist's address at 1607 Dexter Avenue in Cincinnati, remains on the reverse, as shown, The painting is in original old vintage condition. It is displayable as it is, though a light cleaning might be desirable. The old frame is of quality and it has modest wear that would be expected after nearly 90 years. Dumler was born in the river city, and was a student of Martin Rettig and Richard Buseman. Later, in New York, he studied with Edward Potthast. Dumler was also musically talented, and was a composer of liturgical music. The artist was a member of the Salmagundi Club and the Cincinnati Art Club.
