Oil on canvasboard painting of a peaceful landscape in the Texas hills in autumn, 16" by 20" (22 1/2" by 26 1/2" framed), signed at lower left by the noted Texas woman artist, DOLLIE S. NABINGER (1905-1988). Most likely this is a scene in the Hill Country. Nabinger was born in Commerce, Texas and showed artistic promise at an early age. She studied at the Art Students League in New York, then back in San Antonio with Texas masters Jose Arpa, and Harry Anthony DeYoung, and, also, in 1955, at the Academie Julian in Paris. Today she is best known for her Texas landscapes, especially those with the state's signature bluebonnets, but some paintings from Colorado and other locales are known. This beautiful landscape of the Lone Star State is in excellent condition.
