Oil on canvas laid on board painting of young children playing in a park, the scene including pink blossom trees, benches, a walking path and toy boats in a pond, 12" by 9" (15" by 12" framed), signed at extreme lower right "F. Sale" or "F. Sage". This likely dates to about the 1960's. It is a charming scene in a naive primitivist technique. There is even soiling and yellowed varnish consistent with age. The details are very appealing: young boy at left doing a hand stand, girls (twins?) under a yellow parasol, and three others clad in light blue playing in the pond or sailing a boat. A tiny American flag on one of the boats indicates this to be American, rather than something like French/Luxembourg Gardens Paris etc. Frame has soiling and light wear again consistent with age.
