Watercolor on paper painting of a lovely young woman in turn of the century Italy, likely Venice, 13" by 10 1/4" inside the mat, 21" by 17 1/2" in pleasing coppery gold frame, signed at lower right by artist D. G. ANGIOLINI. The artist is obviously highly skilled. Paintings by this D. G. Angiolini generally feature genre scenes of Venice, or views of Venice. At least one online offering of a painting thus signed suggests that this is a pseudonym for highly important Italian 19th century artist Eugen von Blaas, citing similarities in the technique. The drawing is superb and of the highest quality, and it is in excellent condition. The mat is clean, (drawn lines), and the frame very complementary. All in all this is a very attractive, wall-ready work. There is an old Lyman Bros./Indianapolis framing sticker on the reverse framing paper. Allow for reflections in some images.
