Luminous oil on canvas landscape at day's end, a tree like an elm silhouetted against the fading light, a small footbridge over a creek in foreground, a structure at left, distant hills completing the scenery, signed at lower left corner by American artist ELLA PARKER and dated there 1901. I am assuming her to have been from New England, as there is an old framer's label from Lynn, Massachusetts, near Boston, on the frame. An internet search has not turned up an artist by this name, which is puzzling, given her understanding of Luminism. The painting has survived in good condition, considering its more than 110 years of age. Perhaps a cleaning would freshen it up but this would not be something you would need to do now. The work measures " by ", " by " framed.
