Oil on canvas painting of the famous, familiar view of the 17th century Baroque church of Santa Prisca in Taxco, Mexico, signed at lower right by Latin American impressionist artist MAYA. I have seen and sold other works by this artist, usually featuring landscapes of Mexico or Central America, but I am not sure as to the complete identity of this talented artist. This painting, 14" by 11 3/4" (16 1/2" by 14" framed), is titled on the reverse "Santa Prisca/Taxco Mexico/Aug 9 -57". The work is in stable condition, with some stretcher bar show-through at top, two small pressure dimples, and overall soiling and yellowed varnish consistent with over a half century of age. Compare the view to a similar view in watercolor, by a different artist, in my shop.
