This is a very old traditional still life of fruits, garlic, and a sliced melon, oil on old coarse weave canvas, laid on masonite, 22" by 34 1/2" (25 1/2" by 38" in attractive old framing), apparently unsigned. The painting is of the very old traditional style of old master works of its kind. It would make for a fine accent piece in dining room or extended pantry or kitchen. There is a narrow scrape in the paint at upper left, appearing as a fine light line roughly 7" in length, otherwise the condition is convincingly old and as one would expect in a painting of this great age. There is some dust, fine craquelure, uneven varnish, etc., but all this just adds to the antiquity of the piece. The frame details are quite interesting. Overall a fine traditional work for your fine interior.
