***ONE OF THREE BY THE ARTIST IN MY SHOP, INCLUDING ANOTHER ONE OF THIS EXACT SAME SCENE IN A DIFFERENT SEASON (AUTUMN)--would make an interesting pair.** Oil on canvas of Mt. Fuji in Japan, shown in early spring, snow covering the top of the cone, pink blossoms appearing on a sapling, a traditional house or inn with a few figures and a horse occupying the middle of the scene, 19 3/4" by 23 3/4" (25 1/2" by 29 1/2 in above average quality frame, signed at lower left by the talented 20th century Japanese artist who signs as "NOBUO". The work is titled "Nanyosha" at bottom of frame (googling this word has not been conclusive--does not appear to be a geographic place name). A look at the auction records shows, I think, a large degree of confusion as to the identity of the artist who paints these scenes. There is a Kurosawa Nobuo (1930-) and a Hayashi Nobuo (1925-). The auction records appear to be hopelessly confused. There do appear to be significant auction records in Japan for the latter, up to the $3,000 range. It does appear that this painting dates from the 1960's or 1970's. It is in excellent condition and is sure to please the collector of Japanese art.
