Watercolor painting of famous Notre Dame and the bookstalls lining the Seine River, 18 3/4" by 24 3/4" (26 3/4" by 32 3/4" framed), signed at lower right by the noted contemporary French impressionist artist LUCIEN DELARUE (1925-). Delarue was born in Paris and studied at the Grand Chaumiere, including some time with Yves Brayer. He is known today for oil and watercolor paintings of familiar and much loved Parisian scenes, as well as cottages, harbors, and rivers. This watercolor is very fresh and clean. Note the tremendous detail of the bookstalls, cars and figures in the street, painted with a flickering talented brush.
