Interesting painted bark piece from the Pacific islands, probably Tonga, Fiji Samoa, or other island in Oceania, 18 3/4" by 26 1/2" (21 1/2" by 32" framed). The bark appears to have been laid on a thin board. This 20th century work was likely brought back to the US in the 1960's by a tourist, as decorative ethnographic art. Note the old San Francisco pre-zip code framer's label. This item would make for a fine addition to your tropical or "Hawaiiana" style interior. See another tapa work in the shop.
