Original black-painted terra cotta sculpture of the head of an apparently African-American man, signed at the base "Marion Goodman". To date I have not located a listing for an artist by this name. The sculpture, which has some age (circa 1950's to 1970'?) measures roughly 18" high by 11" by 8"(including base) and weighs 22 pounds. The artist worked the clay with great skill to create a very life-like face, and the curls of the hair are also treated with care. The clay was then painted with a brownish-black paint to complete the work of art. Over time the piece has been handled, so there is some light overall wear---some of the paint has chipped off a little, and the surface is not flawless, but there is no serious damage.
