This is a charming antique watercolor, signed at lower right "Vl. Titelbach", and dated there 1884, the subject a celebratory procession of country folk complete with ox-drawn wagons, horse, drums, pistol being fired in the air and other quaint details. The work is on old browned paper, and it measures 14" by 21" inside the mat. There is no glass (I discarded it---was cracked when this was found, in southern Maine). Presently it is housed only in a simple modern metal frame. The scene seems to be perhaps in southeastern Europe somewhere, perhaps the Balkans, or Hungary, or even northern Greece, judging from the clothing. It does NOT seem to be in Germany or alpine regions of Europe, despite the Germanic artist name. The drawing has old folds as seen and there is a small 3/4" triangular loss in the paper at extreme bottom center edge. The detail is impressive; most would think this a print but I guarantee it is an original drawing.
