This is an original lithograph by the famous French artist MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985), titled "Le Clown Fleuri" (Clown with Flowers), 1963, from "Lithographes Originales de Marc Chagall", printed by Mourlot. There was a signed edition with margins, and examples sell between $6,000 and $12,000 at auction. This appears to be from the unsigned edition of 2,000 examples, though, since this appears to have been tightly trimmed (sheet size is 12" by 9 1/8", it could have originally had margins and even a signature). The colors are fresh and the work is in fine condition with the exception of the tight trimming and a tiny moisture stain at extreme bottom 1/4", barely even visible on the front and to be hidden by mat anyway. The name of artist and title is written in pencil in handwriting on the reverse at top as shown. The frame is an inexpensive 1960's strip frame that should likely be discarded in favor of proper framing with a mat and air space between the paper and the glass.
