A very very rare print indeed, as the edition is only TEN, unlike most of the other prints by the noted African-American artist, WALTER WILLIAMS (1920-1998). The print is numbered 10/10 at lower left, titled "Girl Picking Flowers #2", and dated and signed 1965 at right. Williams' prints sell actively at Swann Galleries' specialty sales of African-American art in New York. The category is experiencing a lot of growth and prices of African-American art are reaching new highs. The artist was born in Brooklyn and educated at the Brooklyn Museum School. There he came into contact with such figures as Ben Shahn, Reuben Tam and Gregory Prestopino. Major American museums include Williams' works in their collections. Condition is very fine, with rich, bright colors, and the work is fresh, with only somelight rumpling of the very thin, delicate paper. Affixed to the reverse are labels showing this was from the Vincent Price Collection. The print measures 20 1/2" by 25 3/4" inside the mat, and 29" by 34" as framed. Allow for reflections in the glass. See the net for other images of works by the artist and HUNDREDS OF PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND PRINTS.
