**ONE OF TWO WORKS BY THIS ARTIST IN MY SHOP**Pencil signed lithograph titled "Annabelle Lee", 1946, signed at lower right in pencil by noted listed artist BUELL WHITEHEAD (1919-1993). Measuring 15 1/2" by 9 1/2" framed, this was executed by a talented and increasingly sought after artist who is most closely associated with Florida and California. A monograph on him was recently published by Ron Newsom of Florida, a friend and neighbor of the artist in his later years. Whitehead worked in a variety of media but seems to be best known currently for his lithography. I've handled several over the years and they are consistently interesting, beautifully crafted images of the southeastern states. The artist was especially noted for his color skills in lithography. The artist was Illinois-born but spent his later years in Ft. Myers, FL. There are images of far flung sites like the Santa Barbara mission in California, (he did spend considerable time in Southern California), but most are related to the southeastern states. Some have a decided WPA feeling. Condition is good with very light soiling possibly in the margins. See askart for more on the artist and his work, and a website devoted to him, including a list of the prints. .
