Very unusual, modernistic, surrealist oil or some kind of mixed media on aluminum or other white metal panel, measuring 24" by 20" (32" by 28" framed). It is signed in upper right in capital letters (first letter difficult to understand) "PMON" or similar. This should be easy to decipher, even if it's Cyrillic, but it is not. My Russian speaking friend is unable to decide what this word might be. I thought the work could possibly be Greek, too. The signature betrays a trained hand, leading me to think it could just be by a modern artist of note, Russian or otherwise. This one is truly a mystery. It probably dates to the 1970's, judging from the framing. Note the highly detailed, skilled work in the faces and other details. Condition is very good overall, though there are some small paint losses due to abrasions.
