Oil on canvas landscape of a busy scene I believe to be along the Potomac River in Alexandria, Virginia, 13" by 25" as framed in narrow blond ash, signed at lower right by Torpedo Art Center artist ANNE B. LANDRY. Some internet research enabled me to identify the artist. Landry is a New Orleans native and graduate of Newcomb Art School at Tulane there, who after some time in the corporate world in New York elected to move to the Washington, D.C. area, where she is a juried artist in the Torpedo Art Center, a large collection of galleries, studios and workshops in Alexandria. Landry's paintings are often whimsical or filled with religious references, or both. This example is in excellent condition. It appears to have been painted on high quality canvas and the frame is also of fine quality. Note the plethora of figures and boats in this busy and happy scene.
