Oil on canvas of Mt. Fuji in Japan, shown I believe in the early autumn, snow covering the top of the cone, a traditional house with a few figures and a horse occupying the middle of the scene, unframed, 15" by 18", signed at lower left by the talented 20th century Japanese artist who signs as "NOBUO". A look at the auction records shows, I think, a large degree of confusion as to the identity of the artist who paints these scenes. There is a Kurosawa Nobuo (1930-) and a Hayashi Nobuo (1925-). The auction records appear to be hopelessly confused. There do appear to be significant auction records in Japan for the latter, up to the $3,000 range. It does appear that this painting dates from the 1960's or 1970's. It is in excellent condition and is sure to please the collector of Japanese art.
