Fine watercolor painting of the famous Chartres cathedral in central France, signed at lower right "G. Lefevre" and titled at lower right"Le Pont du Massacre a Chartres" at lower left. The work is by listed French artist GABRIEL ALBERT MARIE LEFEVRE. Not a lot of biographical information is available, but he painted landscapes and historical buildings in France in the 19th century. This work measures 6" by 8 3/4" inside the fine hand-drawn ornate mat, and 16 1/4" by 17 3/4" as framed. Condition is excellent. I peeked inside the framing and this is laid down to an old board. Note the old Paris framer's label on the reverse of the board, from the 16th Arrondissement (Eiffel Tower part of town).
