This is an original drawing by the hand of the famous, iconic American cartoonist CHARLES M. SCHULZ (1922-2000), signed "Sparky". The work, drawn with color markers, measures 13 1/2" by 10" inside the mat, and is inscribed "For Bonnie & Dave with Friendship". As original art by a man considered one of the most influential cartoonists of all time, this is a desirable work indeed. The artist and his "Peanuts" comic strip has become part of international pop culture. There is a museum devoted to the man and his contribution to comic art, and humanity, in Santa Rosa, California (Sonoma County north of San Francisco). See the full biography and a concise Wikipedia summary of the Peanuts comic art phenomenon, beloved by millions around the globe. "Sparky" was Schulz's nickname, given to him, according to the Wikipedia summary, by his uncle, after the "Spark Plug" horse in Billy De Beck's comic strip "Barney Google". Schulz was known as "Sparky" to his close friends, occasionally using that moniker to sign letters or art. The work is in excellent condition, the colors possibly just a bit attenuated. There is a framer's label on the reverse from Souder Gallery in San Mateo (near San Francisco) California. Guaranteed unconditionally to be an authentic work by Charles Schulz. This came out of a private Palm Springs collection. Allow for reflections in a few images.
