Painting on board of a kneeling stylized Native American male figure holding ceremonial staff and feathers, 21 3/4" by 23" (28" by 29 1/2" as framed), signed at the lower left by artist RED HAT. This work likely dates to the period between the late 1940's and about 1955 I would guess. The streamlined style reflects the Moderne and Art Deco movements earlier in the century. I do not see information on the artist. The imagery and intense color is all striking, and would add a dramatic touch to any interior with a Southwest theme. Due to careless handling, the work has acquired some abrasions, light digs, and discolorations, mostly in the field, not affecting the detailed portions of the draped figure.
