Oil on canvas laid on board painting of a clipper ship on the high seas, signed at lower right in red "H. G. Garcia" and dated there "938". This is a fine work by a Chilean artist, HORACIO GERARDO GARCIA (1878-1942), works of whom have achieved $15,000 at auction. The work measures 8 1/2" by 11 1/4" (the painting itself). Although an oil, it has been protected behind the glass for years. There's an original artist label on the reverse as shown, giving the title "Con Viento a la Cuadra" (I believe a rough translation would be "square to the wind", and the address in Santiago, Chile. The canvas has evidently been cut and laid on the board long ago. It has had time to be bowed. Allow for some reflections. SEE HUNDREDS OF WORKS NOW IN MY SHOP INCLUDING OTHER MARINE ART.
