Oil on canvas of an elegant lady, unframed, " by ", signed at lower right by listed American artist LYLIAN ROOT HULBERT and dated there "97". The late 19th century American woman artist seems to have painted in a traditional style, her favorite subject women in elegant, upscale settings, but there does not appear to be much biographical information available. A disproportionate number of the few paintings that have appeared on the market seem to have originated in the Midwest, so perhaps the artist was from that area. This oil is in need of restoration, with general paint loss, tears, and punctures, as shown, but it is well worth spending the money to preserve. On the reverse side of the canvas there is difficult to read handwriting apparently describing the subject. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS OF ART NOW IN MY SHOP.
