This is Picasso's well known and popular Cote D' Azur lithograph, printed by Mourlot, and dating to the year 1962. The print measures approximately 39" x 25 1/2" and is presently protected inside a clear plastic poster box. Printed along the bottom of the image area is "Henri Deschamps lith.", and at sheet bottom the typical "MINISTERE DES TRAVAUX PUBLICS ET DES TRANSPORT...." etc, "PRINTED IN FRANCE", and "PUBLISHED BY AND FOR THE FRENCH GOVERNMENT" etc. I am guaranteeing this to be an original stone lithograph of the period. It is not a later offset reproduction with dots showing under close magnification. I believe the total edition number is 15,000; these are very collectable. Printing was by the famous French art lithography printer Fernand Mourlot. It is signed and titled in the plate. The work appears in the Picasso catalogue raisonne of the complete printed works: "Picasso - Posters", by Christopher Czwiklitzer, New York, NY, Random House, 1971, p. 177. This example is in very fresh, unfaded condition, with the exception of the extreme lower left corner, where there is a bit of old moisture staining (see image, more available upon request).
