Decorative botanical copper engraving print from 1806, after the famed English botanical artist SYDENHAM EDWARDS (1768-1819), measuring " by " as framed. Sydenham was the son of a Welsh schoolmaster, and went on to become one of the principal artists for Curtis's Botanical Magazine late in the 18th and early in the 19th century. After 1815 he went on to publish The Botanical Register. The present example is surrounded by an ornate mat. There is a small foxing mark at right but otherwise the work is clean. Note the affixed photocopy on the reverse, from Curtis's. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER PRINTS, PAINTINGS AND DRAWINGS IN MY SHOP.
