Impressionist oil painting of stands of white birch trees by a small lake or large pond, painted on the smooth side of masonite panel, 9 3/4" by 13 1/2" (12 1/2" by 16" as simply framed), apparently unsigned. The scene suggests a northern latitude, perhaps high elevations in the United States, or Canada or northern Europe, but there is little to go on geography-wise. The artist was skilled and created a peaceful little painting in subdued colors. The condition is somewhat compromised, with fine craquelure of the paint surfaces in many spots, and tiny losses similarly scattered about, and a few larger loss areas approximately 1/4" in size. Seen from a reasonable viewing distance the issues are lost in the scene, but they are certainly there. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS OF ART NOW IN MY SHOP.
