This is an unusually bright, saturated-color example of the MARC CHAGALL (1887-1985) lithograph "Romeo and Juliet", printed by Mourlot. This is a well known image by Chagall, created in 1964 for the ceiling of the Opera Garnier in Paris. Charles Sorlier in association with the famous lithography house Mourlot adapted this image from Chagall's sketches for the project and printed this. Measurements are 24 3/4" by 38 3/4". The total edition was 5,000 examples. Examples sell regularly at auction in Europe and America. The image is very popular; this is the fourth example I have owned, and the previous ones have sold readily. See the net for more about this popular image. Condition appears excellent with no scrapes or abrasions, though there are some soft handling creases, very slight wear in extreme lower left corner, and a little harmless soiling on the reverse. The print includes the lettering at the bottom right edge, (examine the photos which show this), but that lettering is partially obscured by the framing in the images. ***WILL BE SHIPPED IN A RIGID HARD PLASTIC TUBE, metal frame/glass as photographed will be discarded***
