Watercolor and ink on paper painting of flowers in a pot, 15 1/2" by 11 1/2" (23" by 19" as framed), signed at lower left and dated 1970 by the well-exhibited, Chinese-born artist who goes by the name "Chinyee". She was born in Nanjing and educated in Chongqing during the time of the Sino-Japanese War (1930's). By 1947 as the winner of a scholarship, the artist was able to come to the United States for study. There during the Cultural Revolution in her homeland, she attended the Art Students League in New York. By 1965 she had her first solo exhibit. Subsequent years saw increasing recognition, by such organizations as UNICEF and the Art in Embassies program of the US State Department. By 1988 she had established a studio in Dobbs Ferry, New York and currently she resides in Princeton, New Jersey. A website shows a mix of past and current work.
