This ancient bellows, 9 pounds in weight and 50 inches long, 15 inches across at the widest point, appears to be of Pennsylvania origin, due to the colorful "hex" symbol associated with furniture from the area. I am hardly a specialist in Pennsylvania folk art, but I thought with the hex symbol this could be safely placed in that category. It's really an unusual and picturesque piece, an old survivor, with original old thumb screws, ancient old thick hide leather, old tacks, some kind of fur visible inside the hole cut in the back, and great old apparently original paint. This unusual item is no doubt highly collectable, and it would make a fine "prop" near the hearth of your antique house.
