PAIR of contemporary paintings on canvas, both unframed, each 10" by 8", dated 1999 and dedicated on the reverse to friends by artist "Maya". The two were cleverly painted to show essentially the same scene, but with slight differences, so as to suggest motion. We see the lower portion of a woman dressed in knee high blue pants, alternately stepping on a rug or on the adjacent wooden floor, a potted palm against the wall. At first glance the pair looks to be identical, but there are also differences in the color intensity of the orange border, a kind of Warhol-influenced move. The paintings, while difficult to describe, are very interesting and funky and professionally painted. They will add a touch of whimsy and a contemporary edge to any home where they might be displayed. Both are in excellent condition and will be ready to hang after you add a wire on the back. One painting as shown in the photos has a gob of sticky orange resin on the reverse side; this is NOT damage, or covering damage. It probably ended up there while still in the artist's studio.
