This is a very early watercolor, 9 1/2" by 5 3/4" framed, in the style of the early 19th century, titled at bottom "Double Rose", by an anonymous artist lost to time. His or her handiwork has survived likely 150 years or more but has lost a little color from fading, and the paper has browned. These are not faults---rather, they give the drawing age and character. Whoever made this would be happy to know that his or her work is admired so far in the future! The frame is gold but post-dates the art. A fine addition to a collection of folk art botanical drawings (and see other similar works in my shop).
