Oil on canvas painting of a forest, 18" by 18", in its original oak frame 22" by 22", signed at lower right in red "MOORE" and dated there 1927 or 1924. The painting is a beautiful example of American impressionism of the early 20th century, with some really lovely colors hiding under the grime of nearly 90 years. The artist was obviously a talent to be reckoned with, though with the common last name it is difficult to attribute this to any particular Moore. Found in Los Angeles, I would try first to link this to a California name, but I do not think it by Frank Montague Moore as the style doesn't match that of the artist. There does appear to have been a label of some time affixed to the reverse of the canvas, but it is long gone, just an indication of its former existence now visible. The painting is one of those that really needs a professional cleaning and restoration, as the canvas is a bit uneven, there's the grime and dirt issue, and a few areas of missing paint such as at upper center in the tree trunk and a few spots at right. Thus restored, it will be one fine impressionist oil. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS OF ART NOW IN MY SHOP.
