ONE OF TWELVE FLINT PRINTS I OWN, ALL TO BE EVENTUALLY LISTED IN MY SHOP, this is a fresh and clean example of one of William Russell Flint's fine photolithographs issued for collectors over a period of decades. This one is signed in pencil at lower right and bears the characteristic embossed blindstamp in lower left margin. At top margin we learn that this was issued by Frost and Reed in 1969, the year of the artist's death. The title of this image, which was issued in an edition of 850, is "Gitanas at La Galera" (gypsies at La Galera, Spain). The print measures 28 1/2" by 20 3/4" inside the mat and (36 1/2" by 29 1/2" as framed). WILLIAM RUSSELL FLINT (1880-1969) was a very talented and popular artist who is today best known for his superb draftsmanship and watercolor skills, his favorite subject being beautiful women in various stages of nudity against architectural or scenic settings. The subject of this particular work might be Cecilia Green in a composite of various poses, (she being one of the artist's favorite models). Flint's best original works command huge sums at auction in London. While he also worked in oil, it is the watercolors that are most coveted by collectors. This print is very clean, and ready for the wall in its simple yet elegant frame and fine mat. This print and most of the others I will be listing came out of one Malibu estate. The former owners acquired a print from Harrod's each time they visited London, eventually forming a large collection. This example retains the original Harrod's label and 300 Pounds price. Allow for reflections in some images. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS IN MY SHOP.
