Watercolor on paper painting of two figures executed in the style of a miniature, likely brother and sister, framed in an oval frame, signed at lower right edge in tiny writing "L Clerbois". The work (4 7/7" by 3 7/8" inside the mat) is an example by the Belgian-born artist LAURE CLERBOIS (1859-1944). Clerbois had emigrated to California by 1920, spent six years in Santa Barbara, and by 1926 was in Los Angeles where she remained until her death at mid century. Today she is known primarily for her miniatures in pastel or watercolor. This example is in excellent condition, the colors still rich. The top of the oval frame has a small splintered chunk, crudely taped at present to prevent its becoming lost. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER WORKS OF ART NOW IN MY SHOP.
