Woodblock on very thin, delicate Japan type paper, 14 1/2" by 10" inside the old mat, signed at lower right margin in Hebrew, numbered there 53/100, (part of the numbering apparently in green ink), the subject a holy or religious Jewish orthodox man with traditional clothing and hair style. I am not able to read the Hebrew and a friend who can was not able to decipher the writing. Regardless of artist name, the print is beautifully conceived and executed. It is a sensitive portrait of a subject the artist no doubt knew well. I acquired this in Brooklyn. When acquired it was in an inexpensive old frame that is falling apart. For photography I removed it from the frame. Note that the old mat is stained and discolored, but, luckily, the print has survived in good condition. The ultra-delicate paper is thin and buckled but overall this work is a lucky survivor. Final photo is from the reverse side, showing how the image is viewable through the tissue-like paper. I would suggest a new mat and frame and then this will be ready for decades of display.
