From a local estate comes a pair of very, very detailed Tibetan thangka paintings, one measuring 24" by 19 3/4" in its gold frame and the other 21 1/2" by 16 1/4". I am not a specialist in art of the Indian subcontinent and the Himalayas or Tibetan Plateau region, but I understand these to be highly symbolic religious works of that geographic origin. The former owner was said to have collected these on one of her trips to India. Obviously antique thangka's can be centuries old, but these works I would judge to date to the second half of the 20th century. Condition is excellent with just one small abrasion on one and a few light abrasions on the other, at the bottom. The thin canvas on which the works were created has apparently been laid on the support board. .
