Impressionist watercolor painting of rock outcroppings by a forested shore, as in a lake, pond or reservoir, 10 1/2" by 14" (16 1/2" by 19 3/4" as nicely framed, behind high quality Tru-Vue UV protected low glare glass), signed at lower left by listed Oregon and California watercolorist BRUCE WALLACE BUTTE (1920-2003). Butte was born in Seattle and lived for a time in various parts of California, before returning to the Pacific Northwest in 1970. During his life he was an art director at various advertising agencies in California and Oregon. An ordained minister, Butte was a member of the prestigious and exclusive Bohemian Club in San Francisco. Late in life from 1980 to near the time of his death, Butte conducted art classes. Surviving works include scenes of Mendocino on the coast north of San Francisco. This work is extremely clean and fresh and with the fine framing, it will make a fine addition to home or office. .
