Oil on the smooth side of the masonite board, 24" by 30" (29" by 35" in its attractive frame), the subject a venerable old tree in flaming autumn colors, an extensive hilly landscape with water in the distance. The painting is signed at lower right "F. Duncan"; I see several American artists by that name but cannot tie this to any of them. The painting, judging from the style and the age of the board, looks to be circa 1940's give or take ten years. It is soiled, with yellowed varnish, but certainly would not need to be restored before it could be placed on your wall. The paint is stable and there are no serious problems. A cleaning would likely reveal blues and whites in the sky rather than the yellowish tone seen in the present condition. SEE HUNDREDS OF OTHER PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS AND PRINTS NOW IN MY SHOP.
