Original watercolor of a typical scene in the sub-tropical island of Bermuda, 9" by 13 1/2" (18 1/2" by 22" in its gold frame), apparently unsigned, probably executed in the early 20th century. The painting's subject is a pink-walled home at left with two palm trees growing in the yard, a view to the water at right center. The painting is laid down on a board, and the gold overmat is glued down on top of it, so, were there a signature/date, it is hidden by the mat. There is foxing visible principally in the sky but there are also some spots elsewhere, as seen. The gold board is missing a chunk at right corner. Bermuda vintage art is quite collectible, and some works by listed artists can be valuable indeed. A lot of the art shows up on the east coast. This example bears an old framer's label of McClees Galleries in downtown Philadelphia. Photo as framed includes some tape residue on the glass so please allow for that.
