Watercolors on paper, each 6 1/4" by 4 1/4" inside the mats (11" by 9" overall, unframed), each signed at bottom center with the distinctive signature of California Scene artist JAKE LEE. These paintings appear to be studies of spring flowers like jonquils and perhaps asters. Jake Lee's works are increasingly sought after by collectors in the wake of his relatively recent passing. These works are clean examples in excellent condition. They should likely receive clean new mats before framing. See the net for more images of Lee's paintings, which include California landscapes, as well as overseas exotic images executed in the course of his travels. Lee was born in Monterey in 1915, and began there painting scenes of the Chinese community of California. Later he studied with Dong Kingman. According to Hughes, Lee's watercolors "are a blending of occidental and oriental techniques". He executed a lot of art for the California AAA's publications, and was featured in an article in the club magazine. See four other works by the artist in my shop, as well as hundreds of other paintings and prints.
