Oil on canvas, 14 1/2 by 18 3/4" (17 1/2" by 21 3/4" as framed), signed at lower right "O. Palmer", not dated but likely first few decades of the twentieth century, the subject a clipper ship at sea under a partly cloudy sky. A few examples by the artist have appeared at various auctions in Europe and the United States, usually featuring various clipper ships. I saw online the 1900 birth date but have not seen a biography for the artist. Scandinavia, including Denmark, has a long history of producing talented artists who produced decorative works, which are available nowadays for most reasonable prices, considering the quality. CONDITION: Generally very good, no varnish, light age-related soiling, and some stretcher bar show-through, and some bumpiness in the canvas, as can be best seen in the two images taken at steep angles in order to accentuate this. A cleaning would certainly be beneficial but not urgent. .
