Offered together as a PAIR are two drawings executed in wax crayon with some incising into the wax by the artist, VERENA BROGER (1943-), a modern day folk painter of Switzerland. Many if not most of the scenes she painted are of the Appenzell, a region of northeast Switzerland, and these appear to be no exception. Depicted are a mountain backed valley with men in tradtional costume leading the livestock on a trail, and a quaint old town in a cozy valley. These works, each about 8 3/4" by 14 3/4" inside the mat (and actually slightly larger than that if you peer under the mats), are both signed at lower right, one dated 1970 and the other 1971 when the artist would have been quite young. The town scene has a little scratch damage at center right, likely the result of traveling without protective glass, but the issue is largely hidden by the busy design. There's a label on the reverse framing from "Bolzani" of Milano, Italy. Broger's works are handled by Swiss auction houses. .
