Original simply framed pencil signed lithograph black/white print on thin tissue-like paper, 7 3/4" by 11" inside the mat, sheet 12 1/2" by 19 1/2", as framed circa 1925, titled "Nelle-la-Vallee, la route", by the famous and important French modern artist MAURICE de VLAMINCK (1876-1958). Vlaminck is known as a Fauvist and later simply as an expressionist. At auctions, Vlaminck's works in oil bring from the low hundreds of thousands of dollars to the low millions. He was a formidable presence in the French art scene during the first half of the twentieth century, a contemporary of Derain, Matisse, Cezanne and other giants. See the net for much more on this major artist. Provenance: Acquired in Camden, Maine from an estate which contained a number of signed American prints from the Associated American Artists. CONDITION: Some light foxing is present in a few spots.
