**PAIR** of framed original drawings in charcoal, with some color as well, the larger 22" by 14 1/2" inside the mat, the smaller 17 1/4" by 12 1/2" inside the mat, both signed (the smaller one signed twice), by the well listed, important Art Deco artist and sculptor BORIS LOVET-LORSKI (1894-1973). I would like to sell these as a pair but will consider selling individually; call or email me to discuss. Lovet-Lorski is known primarily for his sculptures in stone and bronze, examples having sold for $100,000 plus at Sotheby's in 2007. Major museums around the nation, including the Hirschorn in Washington, include his work in their collections. Lovet-Lorski was born in Lithuania and was studying in St. Petersburg when in 1916 the Bolshevik Revolution sent him fleeing to New York. After a time in Milwaukee, teaching and exhibiting, he returned to Europe in 1926 , exhibiting at the Salon d'Automne. Early in his career, the artist worked in stone, a medium he worked with remarkable skill, but arthritis later in life forced him to work in bronze castings. Today his stylized figures and horses are immediately recognizable by collectors of Art Deco art, and they are highly sought after. CONDITION: Generally very good. Slight paper browning; some light rippling; a small edge tear at right on the smaller drawing. See the net for much, much more on the artist. Allow for reflections in some images. .
