Offered together here as a group are **FOUR** watercolor and ink drawings by the noted 20th century French artist CHARLES LEVIER (1920-2003). They are unframed and in a plastic sleeve, as found. Measurements are in a tight range, from 20" by 27" to 21" by 29" (the size of the heavy paper on which they're executed.....drawings themselves somewhat smaller as photos indicate). Condition is excellent save apparently for one (the vertical one) which seems to have some old light brownish staining at right in two areas---I thought at first it was the artist's intent but now I lean towards staining---). They are otherwise fresh and colors are bright. Levier of course is a well known figure in twentieth century contemporary art. A prolific artist, he is known for his harbor scenes, cityscapes, and figures much like these. Oils sell at auctions in Europe and America. Levier was born to a French father and American mother on the Mediterranean island of Corsica in 1920. He studied art and then served in the French military in North Africa in World War II. By 1949 Levier had had his first exhibition, in Lyons, and by 1950, in Los Angeles. He spent time in France and the United States, by the 1960's becoming quite known for his figurative and expressionistic paintings. Levier left behind a huge body of work and his reputation will be assured for years to come. He was known to paint under several pseudonyms. Feel free to request more photos as I am limited to nine on Ruby and there are four works to display! **INCLUDING a very large oil painting by the artist**.
