Watercolor on paper, unsigned, 15 1/2" by 11 3/4" and a 1/2" wide narrow modern frame,no glass, probably dating to circa 1950, the subject a fluted column 19th century style American framed mirror with flowers in a vase placed before it. This is a simple composition but the anonymous artist was obviously skilled in the use of watercolor and also had a sense of composition. To my eye there is a modernist touch, the way the flowers are stuffed into the foreshortened space. Condition is good, with the faintest of soiling as might be expected when something travels for any length of time without glass. I would not be surprised to find that this was a work of a listed artist but there's no way to prove it. .
