Watercolor and ink on paper, 15 1/2" by 7 1/2" plus 2" of framing on a side, signed at lower right by School of Paris twentieth century French artist JEAN CHEVOLLEAU (1924-1996). Chevolleau is today considered a part of the School of Paris (in fact he is listed in that landmark book by that name). His works are generally modern, some abstract or completely so. Subject matter can be portraits, nudes, landscapes, still life. He met major artists of the century like Picabia, Leger, Delaunay, and Marcel Duchamp. Works in oil sell regularly at auction generally in France. This example is a small gem and is in excellent condition. Photos were taken through non glare type glass so the actual work is even sharper and more impressive. See the net for more images of Chevolleau's paintings. .
