I'm not a specialist in pottery and ceramics but I am offering here a drinking mug, circa mid century, by noted California pottery master SASCHA BRASTOFF. This mug measures 5" high and about 4 1/2" from handle edge to opposite edge of the mug. It is signed "SaschaB" at the top edge. There are three edge chips on the top rim, one on the inside being the largest, and a number of chips on the bottom rim, glaze cracks, crack on bottom and two disturbed grayish lumpy areas on the body of the mug that appear to date to the creation of the piece, where the glaze is interrupted. There's also a crack from top edge into the center of the hair part. So, hardly pristine condition, but if you collect what I gather is known as Brastoff's Alaska series, you might want to add this example to your collection. See the net for much, much more on the Brastoff works. .
