Oil on canvas luminous landscape of a peaceful Highlands lake ("loch") in late afternoon, 20" by 30" (27" by 37" as framed), signed at lower right by prolific Scottish and English artist FRANK E. JAMIESON (1834-1899). Jamieson painted a lot of paintings, and they are widely dispersed, and though not masterpieces, they are very satisfying and easy to live with, and a lot less expensive than those of masters like Alfred DeBreanski. Although there isn't much known about either, I think I read somewhere that he and listed artist Robin Fenson were one and the same artist---that "Jamieson" was a pen name. Regardless, if you're looking for a 19th century English or Scottish landscape under $1000, consider this work. It needs a little restoration, most notably on a 1 1/2" small horizontal tear at right center, a slight scratch at lower left, and stretcher bar show-through.
